Hypergamy: The Unspoken Drive

Hypergamy: The Unspoken Drive
Understanding the female imperative to 'marry up' in status, wealth, and power, and its effects on the modern dating landscape.

Hypergamy: The Unspoken Drive

Hypergamy is the act or practice of a person marrying a spouse of higher caste or social status than themselves. In Redpill terminology, it refers to the innate female drive to seek a partner of equal or, more commonly, higher socioeconomic status, power, and SMV.

It's Not About Love; It's About Security

While modern narratives focus on love and romance, hypergamy operates on a more primal level of survival and optimization. It is an evolutionary strategy to ensure security and the best possible provision for offspring.

The Hypergamous Filter

  • Looks, Money, Status (LMS): A woman's hypergamous filter constantly assesses potential partners based on these three core metrics. A man must meet or exceed her own standing in at least one, and preferably more, of these areas to be considered a viable long-term partner.
  • "Marrying Down": A woman who marries a man of lower status is often seen as an anomaly, and such relationships may face unique social and internal pressures.
  • The Peter Pan Syndrome: Men who fail to increase their status and wealth over time may find their long-term partners becoming dissatisfied as their hypergamous drive remains unfulfilled.

Hypergamy doesn't "turn off" after marriage. The drive is constant. If a husband's value stagnates or declines, and a higher-value option presents itself, the hypergamous imperative can trigger dissatisfaction, leading to "monkey branching."
